Writing assistance, summarisation and image generation are now woven through more apps. The genuinely useful bits are notification summaries, smart replies, and on-device transcription — the kind of small frictions removed across a day.

Apple continues to differentiate on privacy: on-device processing where possible, and a verifiable private cloud for heavier tasks. Whether that architecture limits capability versus rivals is the ongoing debate.

Is It Worth Upgrading For?

If your device already supports it, you get the features free with the OS update — no reason not to. But it’s not, on its own, a compelling reason to buy a new iPhone. Treat it as a nice bonus, not a revolution.
